If you are a member of Congress or the State governments who approved this latest change, what the blazes where you thinking? Or maybe you didn’t even take the time to read the changes before you cast your vote to violate the rights of the people without regard or thought of the consequences? How could you think authorizing the federal Department of (in)Justice to collect DNA samples from people who are merely alleged to have committed a crime, was not a violation of their Constitutional rights?
The last ten days have been a time of tremendous revelations regarding the federal government. I have reached the conclusion most Americans have been living under an illusion they are free. The illusion their Constitutional rights are still in place. During the last ten days those illusions have been shattered for me. The blinders have been removed and I see the ugliness of tyranny clearly.
Less then twenty thousand(19,137) attended yesterdays MN GOP caucuses across the state of MN. With 95.91% of Caucuses Reporting it was a scant turnout to say the least. Conservatives stayed home disillusioned with the MN GOP leadership and the Gubernatorial candidates stepping forward. I suggest the frustration growing of a socialist squirrel government and teacher union control of the MN GOP has disenfranchised the Conservative Minnesota voter.
However, the health care vote has challenged my thinking and caused me to dig deeper into the danger of these actions and the remedy to them. I believe the gauntlet has been thrown down by those who are supposed to represent us. They have challenged us to engage in a contest for liberty in America. If we fail to take up the gauntlet they will continue to take on powers that are not theirs to exercise and our liberties will be lost.
The US Government is dead. Long live the government!
We started a little over 200 years ago with a government, “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Today, we have a bunch of con artists who want to enrich themselves or gain favor or fame through the unscrupulous use of our tax dollars. Our spending in government this year alone is more than our entire history as a nation.
Once in awhile I like a western comedy. An example of what I am talking about is, “Support Your Local Sheriff” (1969), starring James Garner. The movie is set in a frontier town in the Old West that springs up almost literally overnight when the rather klutzy and hotheaded Prudy Perkins discovers gold in a grave during a funeral. Most people in town are too busy digging to take time out to be sheriff, and those who are willing to put down their shovel quickly die. This all changes with the arrival in town of Jason McCullough. Needing money, McCullough demonstrates his uncanny firearms ability to the mayor and town council, and becomes the new sheriff.
The rule of the Thirty Tyrants of Athens is recorded in the annuls of ancient history. John Locke references them in The Second Treatise of Government as an example of when the power of government “is made use of to impoverish, harass, or subdue the governed to arbitrary and irregular commands of those that have it.” Locke says this is when it becomes tyranny whether it be by one member or by many.
It is time to stress the importance of the rights and protections to be exercised by the several sovereign States afforded to these United States of America under the Tenth Amendment.
I am disappointed with the state of my Christian family in America. The fruit of the 1950’s-era prohibition of tax-exempt status for churches who engage in political activity has grown to maturity. After decades of being told they cannot address political issues and causes, many churches have gone silent on the great moral issues of the day.
As a consequence, many an average Christian has gone silent on the great moral issues of the day. With it not taught and modeled in out houses of worship, a lot of modern-day disciples are deaf and dumb in the face of PC encroachment. What used to be an understood stance by the Church at large is now called into question.
Servants of the People or Tyrants
Today the debate over health care reform dominates the national news and conversations all across America. In most polls the American people reject the plan for government-run healthcare. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to really matter to the Obama Administration or the leadership of the House or Senate.
In the end the democratically controlled Congress seems hell-bent on passing what the people say they do not want. They are ignoring the outcry of the people and their outrage simply to pursue a policy which will cause one of the biggest tax increases in history. Are these elected officials functioning as elected servants of the people or have they become tyrants?
