The brilliance of her strategy is lost on the left and moderate spectrum of the political operative world. From her resignation as Alaska’s governor, thus shutting down the sniping from the left with endless ethics charges and court fees, to launching her tour to the out of the way places rather than the big cities.

Palin strikes a chord in regular Americans because she comes across as a real person. She is not a polished political operative. What the media disdains in her, Americans love in her. What the media criticizes her for, Americans love her for. She loves her husband & her kids, she is passionate about what she believes in and isn’t afraid of a fight. She doesn’t ‘triangulate.’

Whether this is a run-up to a presidential bid in 2012 remains to be seen, but she is pushing the conservative cause forward as she promotes her book. Her endorsement of Doug Hoffman in the NY23 Congressional race released a flood of donations from the tea-party folk to the Hoffman campaign.

Sarah Palin is a rock star to conservatives, and the liberal media hates her. All the more reason to love her. Keep doing what you’re doing, Sarah, red-blooded Americans like it!

I know you must be asking yourself what does the Absent Minded Professor have to do conservatism, Keith? However, if you watch towards the end, Professor Brainard is in court and and on the stand. He delivers a very good speech on fear. The Professor says basically he doesn’t understand how we had become a nation of people consumed with all kinds of fear.  I find this interesting since it was released in 1961.

Today we live in a dangerous and troubled world.  We hear of terror attacks, wars, and natural disasters almost every time we turn on our TV or computer.  We have leaders telling us the economy will recover while at the same time using America’s financial difficulties  as an opportunity to take over  auto makers and banks.

What are the dangers of becoming a nation of people consumed by fear?  One need only to look to the rise of the fascist movement and Adolph Hitler to power in post World War I Germany.  When people are afraid they look for someone to ease their fear even if at times they have to give up some of their freedom from government intrusion.

This is where a lot of people are in America today. They will gladly give up some of their freedom in exchange for a promise of security.  It is in this way that a nation is brought low and may even fail.

The Old Testament contains the story of Moses sending spies into the promised land to scout out the people and the lay of the land. Of the twelve spies that were sent out, ten came back with an attitude of fear.  Only two come back with a positive report.  As a result, the people of Israel become filled with fear and end up wondering in the wilderness for forty years. This is a prime example of what happens when a people or nation become consumed with fear.

America is on the verge of this same type of destructive fear.  I know there are plenty of reasons to become consumed with fear.  However, if we are to survive as a nation, we must overcome our fears and protect our freedom no matter what the cost may be.

Deut. 20:3-4 says:

“Today you are about to engage in battle with your enemies. Do not be fainthearted. Do not be afraid, alarmed, or terrified because of them. For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”

In these time of turmoil and uncertainties in America, I find great comfort in this passage.  We must not let fear, alarm, or terror consume us as individuals or as a people.  Instead we need to rest in the thought that our Lord is along side us ready to fight for us and to bring us victory over our enemies.

Once we put aside fear and stop being fainthearted we can become effective in the fight to restore our freedoms. This is the only way we will stop this nation from being destroyed by fear.  We must each of us discover a new boldness in facing our challenges. It is a time to stop letting our fears hold us back from speaking out and taking a stand. I don’t know what you will choose to do, but as for me I am going to continue to engage in the battle for our nation without fear.

As a consequence, many an average Christian has gone silent on the great moral issues of the day. With it not taught and modeled in out houses of worship, a lot of modern-day disciples are deaf and dumb in the face of PC encroachment. What used to be an understood stance by the Church at large is now called into question.

Politicians of this faith or that faith claim to be prolife because of their faith, but won’t support legislative change to protect life because they don’t want to ‘force their religion’ on others. A faith that lives separate in my heart from my daily deeds is no faith at all. A faith that lives in my head but doesn’t move my hands and feet is no faith at all.

When our country was roiled by the Revolutionary War against the British, pulpits were aflame with ‘political’ speech. Many a sermon in the church-house led to military sign-ups in the church yard immediately afterward. Many preachers and pastors wore the colors of the Revolutionary soldier, and our nation was birthed with churchmen and Christians standing for righteousness and Liberty.

Now, if you are of the same stripe and caliber of faith, the culture tells you that you have no place in the political discussion. Even church leadership is buying into this lie. If my faith does not drive my political views then neither my faith nor my politics are worth holding. I am a double hypocrite, not living my true heart in any arena.

I am calling on all people of faith today: Rather than run from the battle, run TO the battle. We need your voice and your vote now more than ever. We need to stand for life, for limits on government, and for freedom and liberty to make a return to America. We need to hold closely to our Constitution, not remake it in our image.

Shake off this self-imposed discrimination, and stand for what is right! Edmond Burke famously said: “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men (& women) to do nothing.” DO something, and start where you live! And may God be with you as you stand for what is right.

I reach out to those around me when God opens a door, whether to share the Gospel or to offer heart-freedom through a deep-walking process through the Spirit of God. But as I watch the freedoms of Americans caught in the strangle-hold of greater and greater government regulation and oppression. When Christ said, ‘occupy’ to Hs disciples, he didn’t mean to hide in a church building and avoid the social, political, and moral issues of the day.

I grow weary of Evangelicals telling me the church has to focus on the Gospel alone and leave all the politics and culture fights to the world. You can’t spread the Gospel and not point out how the social and political morals are affecting people, that isn’t the WHOLE Gospel!

Politics and Religion don’t mix, they say…… and then proceed to claim every moral position that faith and religion speak to is now political territory. The encroachment of PC – nazis on everyday life is relentless. I say, if my faith does not inform my political and worldview, then it is a useless belief and is no faith at all.

So what drives people of faith in their political life? A burning understanding that there is right and wrong in the world, and that we will be held accountable. As I raise my voice to express my convictions, I am speaking personally and not as the church, but my convictions are informed by the faith that I live.

Living now in Las Vegas, surrounded by the very excess of fleshly living, we are carving out a corner of conservatism, social, fiscal, & national security. Nevada was a swing state that swung blue through Obamamania last year, and now we are lumped in with CA in the list of states about to reach insolvency. Way to go, kids! In 2010, we will swing to conservatism, not to red or blue, I am sick of politicians, give me a dude or chick who loves the country, gets the Constitution, and hates government, and I’ll vote for him(her) every time!

For me, the guiding principle is what the Lord told the prophet Isaiah:

“Wash yourselves and be clean! Let me no longer see your evil deeds. Give up your wicked ways. Learn to do good. Seek justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the orphan. Fight for the rights of widows.” Isaiah 1:16,17

If we’re gonna help the oppressed, we have to get the government off their backs!
