The last ten days have been a time of tremendous revelations regarding the federal government. I have reached the conclusion most Americans have been living under an illusion they are free. The illusion their Constitutional rights are still in place. During the last ten days those illusions have been shattered for me. The blinders have been removed and I see the ugliness of tyranny clearly.
Many could ask, “Keith with all of this going on, what stops you from doing something similar to Mr. Stack?” My response has been driven home to me in the last 24 hours. The difference is I have not lost my faith in God. I realize He is sovereign and in control of even my hardships. I realize I am not beyond His grasp during these trying times. He is there beside me every step of the way.
This has been an amazing week in America. The United States Supreme Court upheld free speech in its ruling in the matter of a challenge to McCain-Feingold. On Tuesday of this week, voters surprised the Democratic Party by electing Republican Scott Brown to fill the Massachusetts Senate seat left vacant with the death of Ted Kennedy in August of 2009.
That is the point. The real purpose of the RAT act was to reward special interest groups with huge sum of money at the taxpayers expense. The reason I make this assertion is, of the total awarded so far, $139,377,946,601 of it has been in the form of grants.
Hello, what planet has she been living on since the founding of Al-Qaeda in1988? Or for that matter, just since September 11, 2001. The use of suicide bombers is part of their normal operations. It makes you wonder what the vetting process consisted of on her being selected and appointed to the position of head of the agency charged with protecting our nation from such attacks. Perhaps her answer on whether she was qualified for the position was, “no but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.”
These are men and women who are willing to be separated from loved ones and friends in order to go to foreign lands if that is what it takes to protect their home town from attack. They proudly put their life on the line so that future generations can enjoy liberty.
Thank God! Some genius from the FAA or DHS decided to keep air travelers from keeping blankets or jackets on their lap along with no laptops or electronic devices for – get this – the last hour of air travel! AND, they cannot go to the bathroom for the last hour of flight either. Don’t you feel safer? Listen, this kind of ingenuity only comes through government, because the private sector could never be that creative.
This, of course is in RESPONSE to the latest terror attack from one Nigerian Muslim extremist named Umar Abdulmutallab. Mark Steyn has affectionately named him the panty-bomber due to his ingenious equipment of underwear explosives. Hiding an explosive powder in his crotch, Umar went into the bathroom and mixed his explosive concoction before returning to his seat and drawing a blanket over himself.
However, the health care vote has challenged my thinking and caused me to dig deeper into the danger of these actions and the remedy to them. I believe the gauntlet has been thrown down by those who are supposed to represent us. They have challenged us to engage in a contest for liberty in America. If we fail to take up the gauntlet they will continue to take on powers that are not theirs to exercise and our liberties will be lost.
The US Government is dead. Long live the government!
We started a little over 200 years ago with a government, “of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Today, we have a bunch of con artists who want to enrich themselves or gain favor or fame through the unscrupulous use of our tax dollars. Our spending in government this year alone is more than our entire history as a nation.
Once in awhile I like a western comedy. An example of what I am talking about is, “Support Your Local Sheriff” (1969), starring James Garner. The movie is set in a frontier town in the Old West that springs up almost literally overnight when the rather klutzy and hotheaded Prudy Perkins discovers gold in a grave during a funeral. Most people in town are too busy digging to take time out to be sheriff, and those who are willing to put down their shovel quickly die. This all changes with the arrival in town of Jason McCullough. Needing money, McCullough demonstrates his uncanny firearms ability to the mayor and town council, and becomes the new sheriff.
The rule of the Thirty Tyrants of Athens is recorded in the annuls of ancient history. John Locke references them in The Second Treatise of Government as an example of when the power of government “is made use of to impoverish, harass, or subdue the governed to arbitrary and irregular commands of those that have it.” Locke says this is when it becomes tyranny whether it be by one member or by many.
It is time to stress the importance of the rights and protections to be exercised by the several sovereign States afforded to these United States of America under the Tenth Amendment.
Q1. Is Sarah Palin the real Deal?
Q2. How will she get the Socialist Squirrel old man stink off her?
Q3. Is she just a long line of Guerilla Marketing constructs that have plagued our political system?
I first seen Sarah Palin at the RNC Convention 2008 when I had to swallow McCain as our Republican Party Candidate. She was brilliant. Articulate and wholesome and honestly, she had that wow factor.
Servants of the People or Tyrants
Today the debate over health care reform dominates the national news and conversations all across America. In most polls the American people reject the plan for government-run healthcare. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem to really matter to the Obama Administration or the leadership of the House or Senate.
In the end the democratically controlled Congress seems hell-bent on passing what the people say they do not want. They are ignoring the outcry of the people and their outrage simply to pursue a policy which will cause one of the biggest tax increases in history. Are these elected officials functioning as elected servants of the people or have they become tyrants?
