Endorsements
The Grizzly Groundswell welcomes you to endorse candidates of your choice. We welcome all Grizzly Groundswell Governors to post candidates you are endorsing here. These endorsements can be for any level of government from the local level all the way up to presidential endorsements. At the Grizzly Groundswell we want to get the word out for any candidate you feel is worthy of a Grizzly Groundswell endorsement. We want to be heard.
The Grizzly Groundswell would also like to start a debate over which candidate you will be supporting in the presidential primary. We would like to hear why you support the candidate, and why we should also. It should make for an interesting topic and may help some of us who are still undecided. Maybe we can even come to a consensus and nominate an officially endorsed Grizzly Groundswell candidate to promote.

My Candidate for the President is Fred Thompson. I pretty much like all the candidates except Ron Paul. Fred seems to be the only one that has been a conservative all his life. I do like Guiliani also, even if he has a liberal streak in him. I have some also. But any of the candidates that win the Republican nomination will have my vote.

I happily endorse Michele Bachman for my 6th Congressional District! She is honestly a gem in the midst of gravel in Washington. We really missed her in our State capital. She is a great conservative of great faith and conviction. I wish I could find about 3,000 more like her to run as Grizzly Groundswell Republicans across this nation! She is someone I can really respect.
I am sitting on the screening or search committee in my local House district, but it is Rep. Mark Olson’s seat to loose. Mark is my choice right now, but there is blood in the water and we will see if this old conservative lion can win the endorsement of the party. He has been attacked from outside and within the party. I have told him that I must go with the endorsed candidate of the Republican party because of my seat as Region 3 leader and loyalty to the party and what I want to do with the MN GOP. I think this endorsement system was constructed to give the right credentials to the right candidate. If he looses and goes independent, I can not follow him on that fools path although, from what I see, he may actually win as an independent. I will just have to wish him well and beat him at the polls with our endorsed Republican candidate. He has served conservatives well, but on his 16th year in his seat, there is always room for fresh faces. No one has made themselves available to me to let me know they are running so far.
I will have to update this as time goes by, but for right now I am leaning towards Fred Thompson for president. There is something about him and his out of the box approach and his ability to present position papers before anyone else that excites me about him. He will be a great man to take over the reigns from Bush.
I pray Thompson selects Condi Rice as his Vice President. I would also hope our Republican President we elect in 2008 would keep much of Bush’s cabinet and people in place as I know they are doing a great job in a very hostile media and DNC socialists trying to defeat us from within. Honestly, that decision would lock it for me. There are a lot of other Great men and I am really surprised the lack of great Republican Women in this election run. Like I said, I really wanted Condi in 08. I love Mrs. Dole and Definately W’s better half! If we have nothing else, we have the most beautiful, bright, smart and sexy women in the Republican Party along with the smartest men who can catch their eye and marry them!
I thought Guliani, but here in MN we are plagued with Republicans who refuse to lead and only govern by polls and popular issues. I was sitting at a conservativism in Minnesota forum and had to listen to leadership being apologists for running as Democrats. I should of walked out, but when watching a car wreck, it is hard to avert your eyes. I have this gut feeling Guliani would let conservatives down in these crucial years. Although, I admire him greatly and his presence is calming in crisis unlike Hillary’s set up crisis management.
Ron Paul is a man on the wrong side of the war. His one fatal flaw that I can not get past in looking at him seriously.
Huckabee seems to me to be more of a Guliani where you just get the feeling you are going to wake up and be dissapointed as a conservative.
Romney, just leaves me feeling uncomfortable. I do not know why, just gives me an uneasy feeling. Maybe on paper he looks great, but on a stage with all this talent, he comes off very stiff and mechanical.
Honestly, I just began to get interested in the national race. I would rather focus on my backyard. That in which I can effect for the positive. There is no use electing a Republican President if all our backyards loose to Democrat socialist Squirrels!
Awaken + Stand Up + Step into Action
= Changing the political landscape in all our backyards!

I have decided to endorse Mitt Romney, below is my endorsment from my blog:
I have finally made my choice for president and will now make my endorsement for president, for whatever it’s worth. Hey, newspapers still endorse candidates, and they no longer carry the weight they used to, so why not try my hand at endorsing a candidate?
This is a crucial election for our country’s future. I have been undecided about who I would vote for until very recently. There is much at stake in 2008, from the Democrats trying vigorously to turn our government into a socialist form of government, all the way to the Democrats ignoring the threat of Islamo-fascism even in the wake of September 11th. It is for these reasons that I have remained undecided for so long. But not any more. With just over a week to go to the New Hampshire primary, I have made my choice.
I had narrowed the field down to three candidates; Mitt Romney, Tom Tancredo, and Duncan Hunter.
Tom Tancredo made the choice slightly easier once he dropped out. My choices then were narrowed down to two, naturally. But then Tom Tancredo endorsed Mitt Romney, and that is when I made my final decision.
Tancredo identified former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee and Arizona Sen. John McCain as two Republican candidates whose records indicate they wouldn’t be tough enough on immigration.
He said Romney has a proven record of opposing illegal immigration while governor of Massachusetts, ending driver’s licenses and in-state tuition for illegal immigrants.
“On the other hand, you talk about what’s happened in Arkansas, it’s a totally different situation, and certainly John McCain has built a career in Congress being a supporter of illegal immigration and amnesty,” Tancredo said.
Tancredo said he and Romney met Thursday for more than an hour and he left the meeting convinced that the former Massachusetts governor would do what’s necessary to fight illegal immigration.
“He is the best hope for our cause,” Tancredo said.
Immigration, the war on terror and national defence are the biggest issues to me. Actually they are all one issue in my book, they are woven together to form one big issue. How can we be fighting the war on terror abroad, and yet leave our borders wide open to people who have already successfully made it over here? This is the reason that I was looking at Hunter and Tancredo in the first place, once Tancredo made his decision, I made mine. I almost feel as though Tancredo was only in the race to shed light on immigration and once he did that he decided he could bow out.
The final decision came down to electability. Once I was down to two candidates, that became the deciding factor. Much like a Mike Huckabee nomination would secure a Democrat president in the general election, so to would a Duncan Hunter nomination. So in the end, I had to go with Mitt, even though I do like Duncan Hunter.
I do believe that Mitt Romney would run rings around Hillary Clinton in the debates, and hopefully expose her. Although she has been exposed before and the voters don’t seem to care.
Mitt Romney will be a fiscal conservative, he will cut government programs before he would increase spending, and that is another reason I am going to vote for him. As a successful businessman, he understands the importance of limiting spending and maximizing profits. I believe he will use this knowledge to cut spending, make the Bush tax cuts permanent and downsize the federal government.
In a time when family values are being eroded, and parental rights are being threatened, Mitt Romney talks about strong family values, but he does more than talk, he lives by strong family values.
I believe that Mitt Romney will be a strong leader in a time where leadership will be desperately needed.

I along with Arkansas Republican Assembly (composed of conservative Republican Assembly chapters across the state, endorsed Fred Thompson. We see him as the only true conservative in the race that can win and lead our county. Other agree, including the National Right to Life who endorsed him as their National candidate but also who understand his Federalist position that although Roe v. Wade should be overturned, it should be left to the States and not the Federal government to decide on theses issue. Long before running fro President, Fred Thompson has been working for the control and security of nuclear material around the world to reduce the threat of this material being sold or stolen by terrorist groups. He was doing this with several people in a bi-partisan effort (including working with Sam Nunn). Maybe some of you have seen the film Last Best Chance (www.lastbestchance.org) However, many of us hope if elected Fred Thompson will find a place in his cabinet for Duncan Hunter.
Some may find it surprising that a group of conservative Arkansans did not jump on board with the leaders of the RPA to endorse our local state candidate, Mike Huckabee. We know him, like him, but do not agree with his socialism agenda of enlarging government and expanding benefits even to illegal aliens. We do agree with him that Churches etc. should do more to assist the poor but we do not agree with him in using the taxpayer’s money to fund expanded social programs. I don’t smoke but I oppose his position to establish a National healthcare and to have a National Smoking ban or any other expanded control of individual rights and choices. Again Mike is a nice guy but he and Hillary Clinton are too alike on their internal social agenda for the United States.
Would I work for and vote for Mike or any of the other candidates for president if they get the GOP nomination? Most definitely, but with a lot of hoping a prayer that they will be better than the social squirrel offered by the Democrats.

I endorse Chad Everson for the MN HD 16b. I may not be able to actually vote for him since I live in Illinois, but if I lived there I would whole heartedly vote for him. I also want to thank him for starting this blog so we can get a wide span of people involved in their own states and own communities.

I would like to offer up my Presidential endorsement as we head to
Super-duper Tuesday! Last September, I became a Duncan Hunter fan. I
had
the opportunity to meet him–as well as the Grizzly Groundswell
Wyoming
Secretary of State–in person in WYOMING!!! The State GOP moved the
county conventions up to Jan. 5, which made us the first in delegate
selection (at the time, we were first over all, but Iowa decided to
Caucus–with no delegate selection–two days prior). This gave us
unprecedented attention from GOP Presidential candidates prior to being
nominated. Gov. Romney, as well as his sons, paid a couple visits to
Wyoming, Rep. Hunter and Rep. Ron Paul visited a couple times each, and
Sens. Thompson and Brownback also made a trip to Wyoming. Even Gov.
Richardson (D-NM) made a campaign stop in Wyoming, although the Wyoming
Democrat Party did not move their county conventions from their spring
date.
I loved where Rep. Hunter was coming from, and even though he was lower
tier, he was worthy of support. I was naturally saddened when Right to
Life endorsed Fred Thompson (who also visited Wyoming, but not the same
event where I met Rep. Hunter). I even made a formal endorsement that
was distributed amongst the precinct committee members in Park County
for Rep. Hunter’s nomination. I found out just before convention that
a
thought-out letter to the precinct committee members makes quite an
impression.
As you have probably heard, Mitt Romney won the majority of Wyoming’s
delegates (8 of 12) that were chosen in the county conventions. For
some
time, I’ve been looking at Mitt Romney. Though not my first choice, I
was feeling more tolerable toward him than I had in the past. When Rep.
Hunter withdrew after South Carolina, I had a choice to make. I was
tending to favor Fred Thompson, and about the time I had made my mind
up, Thompson’s withdrawal was announced. As I contemplated the
remaining
choices, I was a respectable candidate in Mitt Romney. Yes, he’s a
“convert” on some of the conservative platforms, but you can go to
his
time as Governor and see a progression to conservatism. I can
understand
the concerns of recent conversions and such, but there are others that
have less of a foundation on conservative values on certain issues
(taxes, immigration, etc…) and they’re still in.
Sen. McCain has alienated Republicans by his maverick actions and
courtship of the media. Ronald Reagan worked with Democrats too, but he
did so to advance his beliefs, not theirs. President Reagan would not
be
the hero and icon that he is today if he had helped write legislation
that assaults the first amendment. He wouldn’t be the conservative
role-model if he opposed taxes. Yes, he signed bills we don’t like, but
there were conservative aspects that were supposed to take place and
they weren’t funded or properly acted upon by the appropriate
officials.
Gov. Huckabee knows he is drawing votes from would-be Mitt Romney
supporters. Far too often, people say, Ahh, pro-life and evangelical,
he
must be good! However, he has the “compassionate conservative” platform
that has made many conservatives uneasy over the past few years. I
deeply respect President Bush. At the same time, I like many others
feel
blindsided. Yes, compassionate sounds really neat and has an
interesting
draw for the evangelical voter, but it also tends to translate into
more
government social programs.
So, if you’re in a Super-duper Tuesday State, I encourage you to
support
Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination. If your candidate(s) has/have
withdrawn from the race, I know how you feel, and there’s a number of
us
that are in the Romney camp. We’d love to have your company. Mitt
Romney
is a good leader with a conservative foundation. He’s also the best hope
for seeing a Republican elected on Nov. 4, 2008.

I’m not yet ready to make a presidential endorsement (though I will go out and anti-endorse Sens. Obama and/or Clinton for the November election). Our elected Democrat Governor has not yet made up his mind on the Democrat candidate he will support in Denver as a super-delegate, but I have made up my mind who I will support in our Republican Primary for U.S. House.
We have a number of candidates seeking election this year. Our Representative is stepping down at the end of this, her seventh term, and in Wyoming, when there’s a Republican opening, it seems like everyone wants to get listed on the ballot.
After consideration over the past several months, especially the last several weeks, I have made my choice. I endorse former State Treasurer Cynthia Lummis for the Republican primary in August and you can find out why here
