The Big Lie About Anti-Semitism

By gary fouse, 8 March, 2010, No Comment

In the midst of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the great propaganda tool that Israel’s enemies use-especially in the West- is that their opposition to Israel is based not on anti-Semitism (Jew hatred), but simply anti-Zionism. Let’s look at Israel’s most immediate enemies, Hamas in Gaza, Fatah in the West Bank, and Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Hamas, which wrestled control of Gaza from Fatah, is clear about its goals-the total eradication of Israel. The Hamas charter states that negotiation is useless. It quotes fromn the Koran. It quotes from the hadith that “the last hour will not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims will kill them.”
(article 7-Hamas Charter). Hamas’ goal is an Islamic republic in Palestine under shariah law. Hamas’ Al Aqsa TV describes Jews as “apes” and “pigs”, (How often have we heard that one?)as well as “enemies of God”.(Wistrich, Robert, A Lethal Obsession, Random House, 2010) p 762.

“My message to the loathed Jews is that there is no god but Allah….”We are a nation that drinks blood, and we know that there is no blood better than the blood of the Jews.”

-Videotaped words of Hamas suicide bomber (February 2006)
-Robert Wistrich, A Lethal Obsession, p 757

The list of statements by Hamas leaders that refer specifically to Jews goes on and on.

On the West Bank, Fatah, the successors to Yassir Arafat, now led by so-called moderate Mahmoud Abbas, enjoy the favor of the US Government as an entity willing to “negotiate” with Israel. This organization, which lost favor in Gaza due to its rampant corruption still floods PA TV with all kinds of anti-Jewish fare. Abbas produced a doctoral dissertation in Moscow in 1983 that claimed that the number of Jews killed in the Holocaust was greatly inflated. (The other side: The secret relationship between Nazism and the Zionist movement-Wistrich, p 652).

In Lebanon, Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has called the Holocaust a myth. He was quoted in September 2001, he was quoted as calling Jews in general,
“Allah’s most cowardly and greedy caricatures.” (Wistrich, p 769)

Meanwhile, Hezbollah’s spiritual leader, Sheikh Muhammad Husayn Fadallah, said in 1988: “The Jews want to be a world superpower. This racist circle of Jews wants to take vengeance on the whole world for their history of persecution and humiliation. In this light, the Jews will work on the basis that Jewish interests are above all world interests.” (Wistrich, p 766)

It goes on and on.

Why is it that in Middle Eastern countries like Egypt, mainstream publications portray Jews in old stereotypical images reminiscent of Julius Streicher’s Der Stuermer, the infamous Nazi periodical? Why is it that two of the most popular best-sellers year after year in the Middle East are “Mein Kampf” and the “Protocols of the Elders of Zion”, the latter a proven forgery produced in Czarist Russia to portray a Jewish conspiracy to take over the world.

Why is it that after 1948, virtually all Jewish communities (some 600-700,000 people) in Arab nations were forced to leave, mostly leaving their homes and possessions behind?

Why is it that Holocaust denial is so rampant in the Arab world?

“But we have nothing against Jews. It’s only the Zionists.”

That’s the line that is necessary to push in the West, especially the United States.

Unfortunately, there are so many in the West-including a surprising number of Jews- who believe that if only there were no Israel- anti-Semitism would go away.

In my view, they are tragically naive. It’s not about the land so much as it is about the religion. It doesn’t take a ton of research to see through the lies.

Problems on UC Campuses

By gary fouse, 1 March, 2010, 1 Comment

Recently, I have written about disruptions and arrests occurring on University of California campuses at Berkeley and Irvine, incidents that have brought embarrassment to the respective schools. Unfortunately, two other campuses have been hit by embarrassing incidents in the past few days.

A few days ago, a Jewish student discovered a swastika carved into her dormitory door at UC Davis. The girl says she gets along well with all her dorm mates and is at a loss as to who did it.

At UC San Diego, a group of fraternities organized a so-called “Compton Cookout”, meant as a spoof of Black History Month. Attendees were invited via Facebook to dress up and act like stereotypes of inner-city blacks. Black students at UCSD were not amused.

Below is a link to the invitation, the reaction of Chancellor Marye Anne Fox and a letter from a campus fraternity regarding the incident (San Diego Channel 10 News):

http://www.10news.com/news/22588063/detail.html

Then, a few days ago, a noose was found hanging on a book shelf in the campus library. Just in the past day, a female student came forward and admitted to the act. She has been suspended. At this point, her name (and race) has not been reported. These incidents have led to rallies in support of black students and a protest at the chancellor’s office. Given the already-simmering controversy of the cookout, the noose must be assumed to have been hung as a racial statement. Given the past history of lynchings in the South, the noose has a definite racial connotation. It is highly troubling that this would occur on a university campus-or anywhere else, for that matter.

UCSD does not have a high black enrollment, and now the university is facing demands that they increase their number of black students and faculty, as well as set up a resource center for black students.

Yesterday, Governor Schwarzenegger spoke of the racially-tinged incidents and said that they will not be tolerated. It is not clear what action will be taken by the university against the organizers of the “Compton Cookout” since it occurred off-campus. However, if their rules of conduct are the same as UCI’s, there should be a provision for off-campus incidents. It would also seem that action could be taken against the fraternities if they were indeed acting as sponsors.

I think it is high time for UC President Yudoff to step in and exercise some firm leadership if you get my drift. Forget the “sensitivity” sessions and the holding-hands rallies. That’s always the response, and they do no good. They also tend to deteriorate into demagoguery of all the other issues in the world. If you make an example of the haters and troublemakers on campus by getting rid of them, everybody else will get the message. Then the nooses and the swastikas will stop.

The Exodus of Jews From Malmo, Sweden

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/sweden/7278532/Jews-leave-Swedish-city-after-sharp-rise-in-anti-Semitic-hate-crimes.html

The London Telegraph is carrying a story on what is an on-going outrage in the southern Swedish city of Malmo. The city’s long resident Jewish community, some of whom are Holocaust survivors, are leaving the city in droves. Why?

It is because of continuous hostility, harassment and hate directed at them from many of the city’s more recent Muslim immigrants, who now make up some one-fifth of the population. Jewish people have been attacked, synagogues have been attacked and cemetries desecrated. How could this be happening in 21st century Europe-especially Sweden?

I have been writing sometime about the outrages committed by certain members of the Muslim immigrant community of Malmo- violent protests and demonstrations, crime and the inability/unwillingness of the city’s mayor, Ilmar Reepalu, to confront it. Reepalu is outwardly unsympathetic to Malmo’s Jewish community. While he condemns anti-Semitism, he condemns Israel and Zionism in the same breath.

Now he says in the above article that if the city’s Jews want to emigrate to Israel, that is not (the city’s) concern.

What a disgrace.

During the German occupation of Denmark, that country succeeded in saving most of their Jews from the Nazis by smuggling them to southern Sweden. Denmark stood in contrast to other countries under German occupation who cooperated with the Germans in rounding up their Jews and handing them over to the occupiers. Now places like Malmo are cooperating with the new occupiers, the new Nazis, radical Islamists who are taking over European cities and bending them to their will. How sickening that mayors like Reepalu take the position that if the new occupiers don’t like Jews then screw the Jews.

It makes one want to cry.

Gays Under Sharia Law

Hat tip to Creeping Shariah and Act for America

I have been accused by a couple of my readers of being homophobic because I oppose gay marriage. I don’t give that charge a lot of attention because it doesn’t really deserve a response.

Yet I have in the past pointed out the hypocrisy of the organized gay lobby in ignoring the hate-and worse-directed to gays within Islam-including gays in the Western countries. The above video by ACT for America gives an insight into Sharia’s position on homosexuality. It is disturbing, especially in light of the advances and increasing acceptance that gays have achieved in western countries.

The problem is that we in the West are afraid to point this out lest we be condemned as religious bigots. The problem is that Islam is more than a religion. It is a political ideology that exerts full control over its members-and seeks to exert control over non-Muslims as well. Sharia, as the gentleman points out, is Islam’s law.

At some point, we need to stand up and tell our Muslim immigrants that we are not going to reverse the advances made by gays in our countries. The gay-rights groups need to be taking the lead in that. Yet, they have not probably for the same reasons that women’s rights advocates fall silent on the status of Muslim women in western societies.

It is all so hypocritical. And all so troubling.

Fighting anti-Semitism in Berlin

(Hat tip to Atlas Shrugs)

The below article concerns the problem of anti-Semitism among Berlin’s Muslim residents and the efforts of some Muslims to combat it by educating their people as to what Jews endured in Germany during the Third Reich.

http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,,5209276,00.html

My hat is off to the individuals mentioned in the article. The Kreuzberg area of Berlin was heavily Turkish the last time I was there. Traditionally, Turks have been secular in their approach to religion although with world events as they are, many are becoming more radicalized. It goes without saying that Germany has a special responsibility to combat anti-Semitism within their borders, and I think they are doing a pretty good job. It is always disturbing to read about antiu-Semitism in Europe, or anywhere for that matter, but also encouraging that some Muslims are willing to stand against it.

AIPAC Luncheon in Orange County

By gary fouse, 1 February, 2010, 2 Comments

Sunday, I attended the annual Orange County AIPAC (America-Israel Public Affairs Committee)luncheon in Irvine, California. The featured speaker was UCLA Professor Judea Pearl, father of Daniel Pearl.

There were a number of other speakers who preceded Pearl. One was Peter Villegas, a Catholic and Latino pro-Israel activist. Rabbi Mark Miller of local synagogue Bat Yahm described the Israeli rescue mission to Haiti, ironically using the term, “disproportinate response” a reference to the term Israel’s critics use to describe the nation’s responses to terrorism.

Obama Whining in Ohio

Things have not been going well for President Obama lately. Poll numbers are down, and government health care is on the ropes again after the stunning defeat in Massachusetts. So it looks like the President has decided to go back into campaign mode (as if he ever left it). His speech this past week at a town hall meeting in Ohio was more in the old campaign style. It flopped-again. Could it be that as the Muddy Waters song goes, “the thrill is gone”?

The Racial Hypocrisy of the Democrats

By gary fouse, 11 January, 2010, 5 Comments

The latest Harry Reid flap over his 2008 remarks about Barack Obama are once again showing that when it comes to racial matters, the Democrats are phonies and hypocrites. It all goes back to the remarks Trent Lott made on the occasion of Strom Thurmond’s 100th birthday (that the country would have been a whole lot better off had Thurmond been president way a half century ago when Thurmond-then a segregationist-ran as a Dixiecrat.) Lott was forced to resign from his position in the midst of a media circus and Democrat outrage.)

IT’s time to lay down the law to Saudi Arabia

For way too long, we have pretended that the oil-rich Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is our ally in the War on Terror. In my view, they are playing a duplicitous game with us. The truth is that they have been playing us like a violin for too many years and spanning too many administrations.

Of course, we know the main reason that we let this nation play its game. OIL. It is to our shame that instead of developing our own oil supplies, we have allowed ourselves to continue our reliance on foreign oil-and mostly from unstable places like Saudi Arabia. The first step in letting the Saudis go is to start developing our own oil in places like Alaska. Of course, the wacko environmentalists have stood in the way. We also have deluded ourselves that the Saudis are a bulwark against other extremist forces in the region. Some bulwark.

After Detroit-What do we do now?

After Detroit-What do we do now?

One lesson we seem to have learned from the attempted airplane bombing in Detroit is that Islamist terrorists are trying to devise new ways to attack airplanes. Therefore, the security at airports we have employed since 9-11 is now known to be insufficient. What we can next expect is more security measures to detect this latest method involving an explosive powder that was brought onto the flight from Amsterdam to Detroit. It is clear that the lives of hundreds, if not thousands of airline passengers are again at high risk. The question is; how do we prevent those lives from being lost?

The first step is that we have to stop playing politically correct word games with who the terrorists are. They are Muslims, not all or even most Muslims to be sure, but the people we need to look out for are Muslims. It is time to stop putting our heads in the sand on that point.

Nelson Gets His Deal-Reid Gets His 60

Nelson Gets His Deal-Reid Gets His 60

Now that the latest Democratic senator (Ben Nelson) has gotten his 30 pieces of silver and deal-maker Harry Reid has reached his 60 votes, another giant step has been taken in the rapid socialization of America.

It is so stunning how our lawmakers can say on one day that they would filibuster a bill, as Nelson did, then after their pot has been sufficiently sweetened, turn around and support it. We saw it with Mary Landreaux, then with Joe Lieberman, now with Nelson. In a way, these three are the worst of all the senators who will vote, “yes.” The other Democrats at least believe in it. These three were merely holding out for more goodies or bickering over a couple of points. To me, it’s not a matter of one or two provisions being added or cut out, or whether something good can be added for their particular state. You either believe this is right for America or wrong. Principled people should have been for or against this thing from the very start.

So now we are another step closer to seeing our government take over another 1/6th of our economy. This means more money to Washington and more power and control over our lives to the faceless bureaucrats in the nation’s capitol.

Destroying Freedom on Both Sides of the Atlantic

Watching the hysteria in Copenhagen, coupled with the hysteria in Washington is like watching two trains rushing 100 mph straight at other. Those engaged in the two-ring circus know exactly what they are doing. On the one hand, the Democrats in Congress and the Obama administration are moving full speed ahead to turn America into a big government-run state. In Copenhagen, world bureaucrats are rushing pell-mell to the goal of establishing a one-world government with capitalism a thing of the past-accompanied by America as a superpower the past.

Victor Riesel-A Great Journalist

Victor Riesel-A Great Journalist

These days, there isn’t much to praise in American journalism. Sean Hannity maintains that the news media has essentially died now that it has thrown away its little remaining objectivity and search for truth. I pretty much agree with him. Look at the New York Times, once the flagship newspaper in America, now reduced to an arm of the Democratic Party. Most newspapers in America have lost their sense of fairness-first in the editorial section, but also in the news section, in which they decide what they want to print, bury or slant depending on how the story fits into their ideology. Meanwhile, the readers are left to separate fact from opinion. While lamenting what our news media has become, it is fitting to look back on one of the great newspaper writers in our country’s history. If you have not heard of him, you should learn about him. His name was Victor Riesel, and he was one of the most courageous writers this country has ever seen.

Watching Europe Surrender

Sometime next year, I hope to get back to Germany as I try to do every couple of years. Of course, the fall of the dollar vis-a-vis the euro makes it increasingly harder to travel to Europe, but it has been in my blood ever since I spent three years of my youth serving in the US Army in Germany. In fact, Germany is the country I regularly return to especially to the town I was stationed in and of which I later wrote a history. The older I get, I find in recent years that when I leave Germany to return home, I wonder if it is the last time I will see the country I love so much. Now I also wonder if I will live long enough to decide I don’t want to return. Indeed, Europe is changing dramatically in terms of demographics even more than the US is. Immigration, as it pertains to Europe, is much different than America.
