Obama’s sole reason for resigning from the Trinity United Church of Christ was to save his political backside, not because he gives a damn (or a God damn, to use his pastor’s terminology) for honor, right, or common decency.

What is important here is not only what Michael Pfleger said to the Trinity United Church of Christ (Barack and Michelle Obamas’ church) but also the audience’s reaction to it. These are the people with whom the Obamas have presumably prayed for twenty years. Applause is universal, and no one raises an objection to “There were a whole lot of white people crying.”
