But according to Cato Institute senior fellow Jerry Taylor, it’s also not a realistic option either. Taylor brings to light in his article titled “Energy independence won’t help us,” that much of the reasoning behind ‘energy independence’ really doesn’t hold water. Both for oil, or alternatives like biofuels.

And after reading through his musings, he does make some sense.

I’m sure you’ll read Mr. Taylor’s full article yourself, but I’ll post a few example snippets here anyways to get the ball rolling. Taylor mentioned how reliance on a biofuel is subject to weather. And that would be true. One severe drought, OR flooding (as we recently witnessed the midwest get hit with,) and how much biofuel production is instantly destroyed? And for how long?
