It sure is! The past few weeks have been all over the map with immigration here in Tucson.

Unfortunately, a lot of it is the looney left and the groups such as La Raza stirring up trouble; it's rare we hear anything good. When there is something good, I, like everyone else, want to spread it far and wide. I'm a firm believer in getting the good out to balance all the doom, gloom and pathos we're subjected to.

This story has so many elements--the tragedy of the child being the main tragedy (his holidays are going to be ruined for him the rest of his life), and yet, like I mentioned on Spree's comments, it truly does seem as if this man was sent as some sort of guardian Angel for this child.

There are always exceptions to "rules" and I really hope this man finds a sponsor. My office has several clients who happen to work in Border Patrol...I would love to be able to have some little way of sneaking in a good "debate" with one or all of them without my boss getting all huffy about me discussing politics with clients. I don't know how successful I'd be, but it certainly couldn't hurt!

Let's hope this man gets the same amount of kindness and compassion he showed.

I agree here Miss Beth!

If our Republican Presidential Candidates or even President Bush had any moxy, they would utilize this story and this great Mexican who wants to immigrate to our great country as the poster boy for how we get a hold on this Rule of Law issue.

If I was a Presidential Candidate, I would offer this good future Republican American Citizen a lifeline in exchange for becoming the face of my upholding the Rule of Law issue that the socialist squirrels try to frame this issue as illegal immigration, and more simply put racism against the proud Hispanic Race.

I would present a comprehensive lock down of the borders, bring out the double walls, drones manned with camera's and shut down the trespassing opportunity that honestly, is too much of an incentive today for any father or mother who wants the American Dream for thier future family tree.

I would then bring forward the laws that are already on the books, and help uphold them. I would ask this gentleman to be deported just like the law states. I then would follow this man through his quest in becoming an American Citizen. Laws need to be changed and upheld so that their is a smooth, orderly and steady stream of immigrants welcomed into our country.

Some changes I would seek would be a deconstruction of the socialist welfare state government agencies that duplicate services and are very ineffective in delivery of these services. I instead would turn to the faith institutions and return to them their status as the face of charity in America. Government, is not the structure that Charity can take place in. It is a right or mandate not a gift from our creator if it is government run and implimented.

Not to change the subject, but a question I have to pose is this; Who is at fault in our border situations? Honestly, it is a shared fault. No, not just blame America, it is more simpler then that fallacy. If your car is stolen and you left the doors open and the car running, who is really at fault? Yes, theft is a crime and the criminal is at fault, but so are we if we left he doors open and the car running.

We have to honestly get our shit together. We need to solidify our defenses and our borders are simply one of them. However, our immigrants are the key to our future. Brilliant or not, they are the future generations of our country and our Republican Party!

Miss Beth, I loved how you point by point presented your argument and I understand that this issue alone could cost Republicans many seats and maybe even a generation of immigrant Republicans if we do not get this right! We are conservative, and should approach this problem in a conservative nononsense way.

1. Close down the borders and solidify the defenses. Taking away the incentive not by penalizing business, that is a socialists dream! You take away the incentive by shutting down the option. When no one gets in, no incentive to try.

2. Utilize this opportunity to eliminate socialist welfare agencies that duplicate services without an effective and monetary self sustaining opperating budget.

3. Change the Accounting practices for all Government agencies and institutions.

4. Uphold the Rule of Law. If it is on the books, it must not be overlooked. It can be removed or ammended, but not overlooked. I guess I better start wearing my damn seat belt until I can get that idiotic law removed off the books of the nanny state.

5. Implement, not an amnesty but an assimulation mandate that follows candidates for citizenship that are already in our country. They should work with faith institutions for 3 years and if they fail to assimulate or can not uphold our rule of law, then they can not stay here regardless of their family structure. That is right, implimentation should be provided not by government socialists but by faith institutions working hand in hand with local law enforcement.

Now this is meant only to keep the conversation going and not to provide a comprehensive plan. for that your candidate will have to hire me as a consultant. I don't come cheap!
