Tyson Foods: It’s Back On The Menu
During recent negotiations between Tyson Foods, Inc., Shelbyville, Tennessee plant and the Retail, Wholesale and Department Store Union (RWDSU) a rather disconcerting agreement had been reached. An agreement entered into their new five year contract, to remove Labor Day as a paid holiday. In its place, employees would receive Eid al-Fitr, a muslim holiday, as a paid vacation day.
As you can imagine, that just didn’t sit well with many Americans. But you probably guessed that already.
So many in fact, that the flood of complaints of outrage and “won’t buy their products anymore,” swamped Tyson Foods to the point that they stopped taking calls. Instead, Tyson Foods began forwarding the calls to their customer service lines Voice Mail center.

Not so fast. They put Labor Day back on the calendar but they did not remove Eid al Fitr. It appears to be a temporary fix for this year and going forward employees may have to make a choice.
Won’t see any Tyson products on the dinner table anytime soon. I don’t eat halal food.
