SOS: A Warning to the GOP From a Conservative

If the Republican presidential candidates have anything in common with the conservative party of Ronald Regan, they have a decision coming up that will make or break them for many of us true conservatives out here. The decision will be whether or not to turn their back on the traitors in their party - those “Republicans” who have strayed from all things conservatism and embraced green.

With green Republicans coming out of the woodwork and siding with Al Gore and the IPCC in utter defiance of conservatism, the presidential candidates are going to have to decide where they stand; do they stand with the conservatives or do they stand with Al Gore and the turncoat Republicans out there? With yesterday’s signing of the MGA’s global warming accord and the green hue that “Republicans” like Arnold Schwarzenegger have around them these days, the apparent direction that many Republicans are moving in is a scary one; and one that has conservatives fuming.
But next month will be decision time, and there is a great deal riding on this one. Apparently Schwarzenegger and Al Gore are working together to design a forum on climate change next month for the presidential candidates to participate in just prior to the first in the nation primary in New Hampshire. First off, I can’t help but to ask just what Schwarzenegger is doing working with Al Gore, considering Arnold claims to be a Republican. After all, isn’t Gore the anti-conservative who stands for everything conservatism stands against? For these two to be working together to create a “forum on climate change” is very revealing about Schwarzenegger’s true colors. And anybody who thinks that this is acceptable because “climate change transcends politics” needs to be slapped with a serious reality check.

This is all about politics.

We already know that McCain is wearing green on his sleeve and is a lost cause, but the rest of the Republican candidates need to take a long, hard look at this so-called “forum” and if they know what is best for the conservative vote, they will refuse to be drawn into this mess. While some might think that this would be a good idea for them because it will give them an opportunity to debate the issue, the reality of the situation is that it is nothing more than a set-up. We already know that Gore and his big green machine have shut down debate and will refuse to listen to anything that doesn’t directly support their own opinion, so how can there even be the possibility of a legitimate debate here? This is nothing more than an excuse to draw the Republican presidential candidates into a shooting gallery and either riddle them with holes over their “hate for the planet” or force them to concede defeat to the green movement.

I would not only like to see the Republicans call Gore, Schwarzenegger and this ridiculous climate change forum out for what it really is, but I would also like to see them call out the and decry the actions of the Benedict Arnolds in the Republican party and pin them for what they really are. If they want to really excite and get the attention of the conservative movement in America, this isn’t a suggestion, this is a necessity. We have been trampled by our own for too long now, and global warming is set to be the final nail in the coffin of the GOP. All of the so-called “solutions” to climate change are right out of the far left doctrine, and as more Republicans embrace these “solutions” and partner with AL Gore and the United Nations, the more weight they add to the sinking ship known as the Grand Old Party.

Conservatives, if we want to stand a chance in 2008 and not see the Republican party lost forever, we need to start encouraging the Republicans to back away from the pop-culture green movement and start concerning themselves with conservatives more than green opinion. Being a Republican can’t just mean putting an “R” next to your name; not if they want to maintain the support of the conservatives. It’s time to tell the GOP that the green movement is the poison pill in the party, and unless they reject that pill the party will disappear forever.
