Barack Attack: Was It Too Little, Or Too Late?
by johnsblogs42 ~ April 30th, 2008. Filed under: Election 2008, Uncategorized.Well, it looks like the racist preacher that Obama could no sooner disown than his own grandmother, has finally been tossed under the bus. Obama spoke harshly of Rev. Wright the other day during an impromptu press conference. But was his speech enough to save his candidacy? And did it come soon enough?
I for one, believe not. Oh, it was stirring, with all the denouncements he could pack into the few minutes. But it would have made a greater impact if he gave this speech back in Philadelphia as a part of the “feel good” speech he gave about healing racial tensions. If anything, that would have been his best call. Even I, who am in no way a supporter of the Obama-nation, had to admit that his previous speech was somewhat moving, although still fell short for me.
But it turns out as I wrote previously, that Rev. Wright IS turning out to be the swiftboat that is going to eventually sink Barack’s love boat. The steam is beginning to run low and his candidate status is feeling the weighty pressure of politics as more of his “self” is made known to the public. And what we’ve been seeing lately, like bitter people clinging to guns and religion, isn’t helping to build America’s confidence in it’s golden child candidate either.
But something about his Anti-Wright rant bothered me that I just couldn’t put my finger on. Fortunately, today’s GOPUSA.com e-letter had EXACTLY the thing I was searching for. Today’s article by Bobby Eberle brought the “Gold Bond medicated powder” needed to quell that nasty little rant-rash that was plaguing me.
One thing was that Obama didn’t appear to be truly ticked off at Wright for making outrageous statements. He did however, appear to be genuinely miffed when Wright mentioned “playing politics” while speaking of Obama. Aha! That’s what it was. Wright getting personal is what pissed Obama off, not that he was continuing to speak out against America.
Eberle mentions that it’s likely Wright would have gotten yet another pass from Obama, if Wright hadn’t made it a “personal issue.” Also mentioned is that Obama really has no political record of significance, legislative legacy to go after. But that his candidacy is more so based on his judgement and vision for America. And if that’s all Obama has going for him as Eberle says, his judgment regarding Rev. Wright calls into question his judgement in other areas as well.
