Barry Goldwater, in his book and speech, “The conscience of a Conservative” recorded in 1960, stated that conservatives have three main troubles:

  • conservatives are unorganized
  • conservatives are inarticulate
  • conservatives are not positive

The Grizzly Groundswell has been created to address all three issues.

While I am inarticulate, you as members are not. Your thought, voice and image is simply amazing to me. You are able to communicate our conservative ideals utilizing cutting edge technology. We utilize blogs, radio and now video.

Organizing these networks, I have attempted to orchestrate a loose structure that you can easily plug yourself into so that your thought, voice and image can reach greater audiences. While this Grizzly Groundswell is not yet perfected and maybe it is foolish to even strive for perfection. Look at where we have come in one short year? Many of you have been with me all along the way. Often it is in the imperfections that beauty is actually found and obtained. I think we have that present in the Grizzly Groundswell.

We can take someone with a kernel of conviction and quickly get them into blogging, and hosting their own radio show. Sometimes, such short cuts put our members into places that are uncomfortable for them.

Other times, our members take to these new media’s like ducks in water. As a whole, we have been very, very successful. Then there are those who take this for granted and with a little taste of power, they feel that they know how to do what we are doing even better.

I applaud these members and encourage them to grow and strive for upper levels. However, other times, I am put in a difficult position and I have to cut loose other members who attempt to destroy or take us in directions that I know are paths I do not want to lead the Grizzly Groundswell and members down that dangerous path.

Recently, I had to cut loose a member who has many talents and gifts. They seem to be lacking in vision and the ability to listen to my experience and envision my vision as a whole. This really saddens me, but I rest assured that this member is following what they feel God is leading them into. Although there seems to be an impasse with our relationship, I will be first to congratulate them if they attain their goal.

Their goal, I have perceived is one of individual vanity and a power grab that I am not interested in. I am uniting the various factions of conservatism and do not wish to exclude any. However, when my hand is forced, I have to cut loose those who are blinded in their own vision and personal need to attain what I see as vanity alone.

Personally, I am very happy being the man behind the scenes. I only feel obligated to stand up on behalf of yourselves my membership. I promote myself only to grow our numbers and open up opportunities for our membership in this Grizzly Groundswell.

We are united in this Grizzly Groundswell Strategy and we will have a large victory in this coverage of the RNC convention 2008. However, I realize that it is not me that will be lifted up by the American people as we win their hearts and minds but that of our membership. I simply am a common North Dakota boy who has a vision of a united conservative thought, voice and image that rekindles the fire of that shining city on the hill that Reagan so often pointed us toward.

I am working day and night to provide you my member the opportunity to stand, shoulder to shoulder with our membership and carry on this good fight as we run this good race. I am so enthused and satisfied by those who are engaged with me in this monumental task.

Personally, I do not have time to placate and babysit those who do not share our vision and are engaged in this fight to return conservative ideals as the norm in this great nation. I can not stand by as our membership and this Grizzly Groundswell is torn down and minimized by simpleton radical thinking, and the thirst for vain power.

I enjoy lifting members up and giving them roles to showcase their talents and assist them in their growth and attaining of their goals. Stephanie Davis is one of our members that all of us should be proud to have among us. She is fulfilling the role as our field General as we enter into this great Grizzly Groundswell Strategy. I have burdened her with more work and responsibilities then any member should have thrust upon them. She has come out of this the victor and I am so proud of all that she has done for our Grizzly Groundswell and her own show as well.

I am sure she will tell you that my expectations are numerous and demanding. I know my own short comings and yet I know Stephanie can probably add some more that I refuse to acknowledge because of my own stupid pride. yet we have found a way to not only work together but also to accomplish this Herculean task at hand.

Others in our membership have fallen to the wayside some because you are all aware that “life happens” and even the best of intentions do not always bring about results. Our membership as a whole only knows this too well. That is why we are attempting to bring to our membership others that have more time, energy and skills that we can tap for our benefit as a whole.

If you found yourself not able to give you all to this task, do not get down on yourself, there will be other tasks and more victories. Awaken to the fact that you are needed and loved in our membership. Stand Up when you can afford to support our collective activities and events. Step into Action as often as humanly possible to lighten the load placed on your fellow member.

Together we are changing political landscapes in all our own backyards. Together as a conservative movement we are growing and prospering like only a movement can that has God’s right hand upon them.

Take pride in your membership and recommit yourself each day, each event and each goal we collectively set forth for ourselves. If there is derision and one or two try to cause division among us, contact me! 763-856-5629 and let me know your concerns and assist me in nipping it in the bud.

For I envision something great for this Grizzly Groundswell that no one member or enemy can destroy. Barry Goldwater pointed out that conservatives can be very pessimistic and have little hope for rekindling of that fire that lights our shining city on the hill. While I know that statement to be true, I want to extinguish any doubt that this Grizzly Groundswell is filled with such doubting Thomas-es.

We are a hopeful lot and we share a vision of what this country was and how it should be. Each of us are embattled in that good fight and we are running that good race! This Grizzly Groundswell is filled with optimistic faithful members.

It is raining outside as I type this out early this morning. Now a pessimist sees the threat of the storm, and the flash of lightning and thunder as menacing. However, I know that all the life that grows around me on our homestead I call the Dream Fulfilled is nourished by the rain and is relieved by the steady down pour. Today I will walk about my homestead and see leaves and vines once yellowed by drought will once again regain their color and hydration. Life springs forth out of these storm clouds and the show of lightning and thunder!

This movement, we call the Grizzly Groundswell is fed upon diversity and rejoices upon overcoming its trials and travails. A rogue member may not like me, may even have good reason to dislike me. However, this Grizzly Groundswell movement is bigger then all of us. I am just the humble glorified custodian of a fight my great grandfather m
ade the decision to take on long ago. When faced with the political power of his day, he chose to stand his ground and take the fight right to them. In doing so, my friends, it has made all the difference in the world.

Know that I am that tender of the vineyard and that defender of this movement to the death. Your trust and faith in this humble North Dakotan boy is well placed. If you question my resolve keep watching and please contact me. There are a hundred reasons for each action and decision made by me. Some you will agree and others you may not. Just know that I am doing what God has called me to do in my short time here in the greatest nation this world has ever known.

If you think I have treated you or a fellow member unfairly, the Bible has a great method for approaching me and voicing your concern and need to reprimand my actions. Utilize it today. I stand firmly on the ground before you knowing that I am righteous in my thought, voice and image in representing you and this Grizzly Groundswell. I have no hidden agenda or need to placate my own vanity. I do all that I do for the Grizzly Groundswell and it’s membership.

The lights and electricity just went out as this storm bears down upon me. Yet, I was smart enough to know that I needed to unplug my laptop. In growing the Grizzly Groundswell I know and I have been graciously gifted with the ability to know when a member needs to be removed from among us. That is truly a gift of God. I do not enjoy conflict but I am committed to uphold my responsibility to this membership and this Grizzly Groundswell. It is my calling and my responsibility to do so for our movement and this Grizzly Groundswell we are all engaged upon.

The storm is now ebbing and moving out from around me. Just like this difficult action, this too will pass.

Now onward onto our goal and our commitment we have made to this RNC convention. Gird up your loins and take this opportunity to shine and be found and lifted up to the heights each of your talents will take you into. God has many plans for this Grizzly Groundswell and its members. Stay ever vigilant and continue upon this good race and engaged in this good fight.

God Bless and please contact me with your concerns or questions. I am always here for my membership as I know you are there for me.
