Today has to be the day that Mike Huckabee has waited for. Not only have the last five major polls in Iowa averaged him one point above Mitt Romney, making him the new Iowa front-runner, but he is now in second place nationally as well with 17%, beating his own record of 15% that he set just yesterday. Huckabee’s website traffic dwarfs that of all the other front runners - you would have to add all of theirs up to equal his traffic. Huckabee has virtually come from out of nowhere and has made himself into a front-runner who has a great chance at getting the nomination. Its amazing to think that Huckabee could actually win the Iowa Caucus.
Huckabee still faces challenges, though, and one is his lack of support in other key states like Florida and New Hampshire. He will need to quickly organize his campaign in those states in order to stay competitive. In Iowa, though, his chances are good. His message has taken the state by storm in the last few weeks, just look at this graph that shows how quickly Huckabee passed Romney in the polls. If Huck takes Iowa, the Romney campaign will suffer, but and other candidates like Guiliani and Thompson would probably get the most benefit. With just a month to go before the Caucus, Huckabee is not a candidate to be underestimated.
