Following up on the Jamiel Shaw tragedy: it got a lot of TV exposure last night; Lou Dobbs and O’Reilly both did stories. I’m not sure whether Keith Olbermann did or not because that would require me to pay attention to Keith Olbermann and that won’t be happening. I make it a point to avoid activities known to destroy brain cells.

Contrast the sheer agony of the family with the detached, bullshit responses of city officials. For them, it’s all about being beholden to illegal aliens rather than the citizens of LA who elected them. This notion that Special Order 40 is helping the police is particularly hard to sell given the brutal crime that’s bringing it to light. The thoroughly disgusting Ed Reyes says that repealing this hideous law would hurt because-strap in for this one-the “economy isn’t ready for it”! He’s just finished listening to the parents of a dead child spilling their hearts out and this prick talks about the economy!!!!!! He then goes on to say that “our sense of community would be shattered”. I repeat: dead child. How in the world does continually putting children at risk of being killed while walking home from school not shatter a community? The far left is so entrenched in LA city government right now that we actually have a system that gives us mayoral elections with two Democrats facing each other. So we get a choice between ridiculously liberal and insanely liberal. (I’ll leave it to the discerning reader to figure out which one Villaraigosa is.) They feel safe in their seats of power. The only thing that will get them to budge at all is a combination of a local angry backlash combined with relentless national exposure of their lunacy that will, hopefully, shake them out of their comfort zones.
