Some of the highlights are that among the 1,558 CPAC poll participants:

  • Romney won.
  • Most want the U.S. to withdraw from the U.N..
  • Most want to see current immigration laws enforced (rather than an easier “path to citizenship”).
  • About a third will either stay home or vote for someone else if either McCain or Huckabee win the Republican nomination.
  • The five most important issues in the 2008 elections are:
    1. the war on terror
    2. illegal immigration
    3. reducing the size of government
    4. the Iraq war
    5. reducing government spending
  • A whopping 82% believed that America’s foreign policy should be based on its own economic and national security interests, rather than on spreading democracy throughout the world.
