Foreign adviser’s ‘anti-Israel policies,’ sympathy for Hamas, raise concerns

JERUSALEM – While officials here largely maintain a policy against interfering in U.S. election politics, some Israeli security officials quietly expressed “concern” about an adviser to Sen. Barack Obama who has advocated negotiations with Hamas and providing international assistance to the terrorist group.

The officials noted Robert Malley, a principal Obama foreign policy adviser, has penned numerous opinion articles, many of them co-written with a former adviser to the late Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat, petitioning for dialogue with Hamas and blasting Israel for numerous policies he says harm the Palestinian cause. Note that “providing international assistance” to Hamas would constitute material support for a foreign terrorist organization as defined by the U.S. State Department–unless Barack Osama’s advisor thinks the State Department should remove Hamas from the list of FTOs. Perhaps an Osama Obama administration would issue an executive order to de-list Hamas as an FTO, and maybe then de-list Al Qaida as well. After all, according to Obama’s minister Jeremiah Wright, we really had 9/11 coming to us. (”White America” got its “wake-up call” on 9/11.)
