UPDATE 1/23/07 - FoxNews:

California Rep. Duncan Hunter endorsed Mike Huckabee on Wednesday, four days after dropping his own presidential bid.

“I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail,” said Hunter. “Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China’s emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America’s industrial base,” he said in a statement.

Huckabee said that the other quality compelling his endorsement is that Huckabee “is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee.” (more)

Neil Cavuto of FoxNews invited Duncan Hunter on his show, Your World, this afternoon, hoping to be the first to announce who Hunter is endorsing now that he has dropped out of the race. But Duncan Hunter, who is becoming known for not giving the press what they are expecting at press conferences, explained to Neil Cavuto of FoxNews that the issues he cares about the most are:

  1. Strong National Defense
  2. The Border Fence
  3. Off-Shore Industry - Bringing industry back to the U.S.

He stated he has a problem with Romney’s Bain Capital, and it’s relationship with his China’s business dealings in Dubai. He says he likes Huckabee’s integrity, and McCain’s committment to national security, but he is not yet endorsing a candidate. He stated he wants to watch the candidates over the next couple of weeks before he makes a decision.

Yes, Cavuto was disappointed - he actually cut Hunter off a view times, with “Oh, yeah, well…” How rude, Neil!
