Rock The Vote sent out a silly email suggesting withholding sexual favors as one possible tactic in the promotion of Obama Don’t Care. The email links to this web page, where a video player displays a short, comedic, sexually suggestive video. Unfortunately, the page lacks genuine useful information about the issue.
There is a prominent frame on the right side of the page displaying a scrolling text window containing sob stories designed to appeal to the viewer’s emotions.
While the video is buffering, it displays an image bearing this text.
F the Vote with Zach Gilford & Ev…
Zach & Eva show you the cool and sexy ways you can Rock the Vote, here are just a few of the…
From my viewpoint, associating the F word and rock with the procedure of casting a ballot is tantamount to sacrilege. When I was young, we had to reach the ripe old age of 21 before we could register and vote. I was not old enough to vote in 1964, but I sure wanted to. I held my nose and cast my first Presidential ballot for Tricky Dick. Balloting is a serious matter, a collective act which can have serious consequences. It ought not to be trivialized by associating it with casual sex. Sex should not be trivialized either; it is a matter of life and death. It can lead to the creation of a new human life and, if your partner is infected, transmit a deadly disease.
The following slogan is prominently displayed on the page.
We pledge ourselves to the health and liberty of young Americans. We pledge to educate ourselves and to stand with those who fight for us and against those who do not. We demand health care, and we are willing to hold out for it.
They demand health care. That says it all. They need it, they want it, they can’t afford it so they’ll stick the taxpayers for it. But they have not thought the matter through. Doctors, hospitals and clinics need to maintain buildings, furnish them, keep supplies and equipment in stock, pay taxes, insurance, utility bills, wages and benefits. They can not keep their doors open unless their cash flow is sufficient to meet all of those needs.
There is a limit to how many patients a doctor can see and treat in a standard working day. If they over book, they will end up paying overtime for their staff.
If you increase the patient load without increasing the number of doctors, you will create a shortage. The result will be longer waits and increased costs, the cost of treatment will increase in the absence of competition. Increasing the number of insured, without increasing the supply of health care services will result in increased costs and decreased availability.
Hillary Care would have restricted medical school enrollment and the supply of doctors. Guess what the result would have been. Obama Don’t Care will reduce supplier’s reimbursement and independence. The result will be a flood of early retirements; doctors will quit the profession. That means reduced supply, exactly the opposite of the desired result. You want more and better care for more people at lower costs. Instead, you will get less care at higher costs.
Similar systems have been tried at the state level, in Massachusetts & Oregon. What happened there? Did care improve? Did costs decline? Did the results live up to the promises made? There is no free lunch. There is no pot of gold. There is no magic wand. This is the real world, not fantasy land. You will pay dearly for everything you get from the government, the quality will be inferior and the cost will be inflated. Have you forgotten the fact that Medicare & Social Security are going bankrupt?
The moral of the story: ignorant, lazy, shallow thinking morons totally lacking in foresight and knowledge of simple economics should not be given the ballot. We should not be urging them to vote. Leave them to copulating, drinking and listening to over amplified music, thats what they are good at.
