“To man, his birthright: to labor, Freedom; to him that wants to labor, work and independence to him that works his dues”

I wrote this post on EWEverson.com some time back.

“To man, his birthright: to labor, freedom;

to him that wants to labor, work and independence;

to him that works his dues”

~1860 Republican Party Platform

Free Labor is an issue that Republicans must return to discuss.  I believe this should be our platform focus once again.

“The Republican Party stands before America, not only as the Anti-Slavery Party,but emphatically the party of FREE LABOR”

Read our Roots of our Party for yourself! Pg. 2 half way down, but read the entire document it is fascinating!

Evening Journal Tracts, No. 8

Republican Nominations

Speech of Carl Schurz at the milwaukee Ratification Meeting

On Wednesday Evening, May 30, 1860

This document is a foundational document for those of us who call themselves Republicans.  As a Conservative, this is a great document that instructs us as to what we need to shoot for today.

I define a Conservative as:

“An individual who has the wisdom to look back into history and learn from past victories and defeats, apply them to today and lead on into the future.”

We as Conservatives are not the party of “NO”, we are the individual American citizens that provide creative solutions to the perplexing state of affairs we are facing today.  Conservatives are by far the most creative and innovative people God has graced this tiny Raku Marble of a planet with.

Please read the above document and realize with me, that the Republican party was not just for the freedom of slaves, but for the freedom and liberty of all American Citizens!  That is right!

“To man, his birthright: to labor, freedom;

to him that wants to labor, work and independence;

to him that works his dues”

You see, I consider myself not only a lifetime Republican but my great grandfather who crossed an ocean to find freedom and liberty was a Republican.  My Grandfather and father as well.  My Great Grandfather offered his life, his name and his worldly possessions to return the Republican party to the Conservative Abraham Lincoln league or Abraham Lincoln Republican roots that he and I both hold dear.  I have a lot of skin in the game you can say.

I think Carl Shurz Addresses this best:

250px-Ute_delegation“We kept in mind the Republican Party had sprung from the indignation of the people aroused by a flagrant breach of trust, and had gained its strength by the uprising of the popular heart for great positive ideas;  that it is a party of volunteers held together not by drill and command, but by the moral power of a great common cause, that by joining the Republican organization, not one of us gave up his moral or political independence; that we did not deed away our conscience in inscribing our names upon its roll; that its claims on our support depend on the hold it has on our convictions; that its tenure is on good behavior, and that it cannot and shall not be ruled by the wily arms of secret diplomacy.

I have heard it said that in consequence of all this, the Republican party is a very difficult party to be managed-but nothing in the world can be easier, as long as the simple but great truth is kept in view, that the masses will remain true to the Republican party, as long as the Republican party remains true to itself.”

The Republican Party today as we find it is not the Republican Party of yesterday because it has not remained true to itself!  Although, here in the Grizzly Groundswell we aim to return the Republican Party back to the party that assured this great nation and all its citizens Freedom and Liberty for all!

Carl Shurz goes on to say:

Carl Shurz“The Republicans stand before the country, not only as the Anti-Slavery party, but emphatically as the party of FREE LABOR!  While penning up slave labor within the limits which the legislation of sovereign states has assigned to it, we propose to plant free labor in the territories by the Homestead bill, and to promote free labor all over the and by the encouragement of home industry. In throwing its shield over the eternal principles of human rights, the platform presents the Anti-slavery policy of the party in its logical connection with the great material interests of the country.  “To man, his birthright; to labor, freedom; to him that wants to labor, work and independence; to him that works, his dues” This is the Republican Platform.”

This must be our Republican Platform today!

I still to this day consider myself a Republican because as a Conservative I look back and realize there were more victories in the ideals and values of the Republican party then there were defeats.  I also hold dear that the Republican party is built upon my ideals and values if it only would remain true to itself.

I however also know that my Republican party has no hope of returning to its glory without me as a member and actively promoting and chasing out the Socialist Squirrels that infest it today!  E. W. Everson put everything on the line to return his backyard, his Republican party back to its formative ideals and values.  Why do we even blink an eye when we find we must do that same thing today?

It is the very nature of politics and of life to have to re-fight old battles and work diligently day in and day out to maintain and gift the next generation with what we have been gifted ourselves with today.  How has this generation become so complacent?  By design you and I surmise and would be correct.

So join with us shoulder to shoulder as we take back the ground we have lost to this mortal enemy of Freedom and Liberty.

Get grizzly with us today, right in your backyard!
