The rule of the Thirty Tyrants of Athens is recorded in the annuls of ancient history. John Locke references them in The Second Treatise of Government as an example of when the power of government “is made use of to impoverish, harass, or subdue the governed to arbitrary and irregular commands of those that have it.” Locke says this is when it becomes tyranny whether it be by one member or by many.
In fact, Locke describes tyranny as, “Whenever law ends, tyranny begins, if the law be transgressed to another’s harm. And whosoever in authority who exceeds the given him by law, and makes use of the force he has under his command, to compass that upon the subject, which the law allows not, ceases in that to be a magistrate, and acting without authority, may be opposed, as any other man, who by force invades the right of another.”
It would be hard to refute the fact that the writings of John Locke had a profound influence on the founders of this great nation. In fact, one would be able to take portions of the Declaration of Independence and see where they were in whole or in part taken from The Second Treatise of Government. That is why in this writing i am referencing his work so heavily. I believe this article is firmly anchored in the thoughts and reasoning of Locke, Jefferson, and Hooker to name only a few. It is also clearly understood that this article is both controversial and inflammatory in nature.
In Washington,DC. there exists a movement by members of Congress and the Administration t0 control and subvert the rights of the people that they were entrusted with when they were elected. I chose to identify thirty of them in this article but there are many more that could be placed in this category. These thirty were chosen on the basis of their support of the Administrations so called Health Care Reform Bill. For the purposes of this article here are the Thirty Tyrants of Washington, DC:
Pres. Barack Obama Sen. Harry Reid Rep. Nancy Pelosi Rep. Charles B. Rangel Rep. Xavier Becarra
Rep. Shelly Berkley Rep. Earl Blumenauer Rep. Virginia Brown-Waite Rep. Joe Courtney
Rep. Joseph Crowley Rep. Artur Davis Rep. Danny Davis Rep. Llyod Doggett Rep. Bob Etheridge
Rep. Bob Filner Rep. Al Green Rep. Luis Gutierrez Rep. Brian Higgins Rep. Henry Johnson
Rep. Walter Jones Rep. Steve Kagen Rep. Ronald Kind Rep. John Larson Rep. Sander Levin
Rep. John Lewis Rep. James McDermott Rep. James McGovern Rep. Kendrick Meek
Rep. Ike Skelton Rep. Linda Sanchez
As you and I both know this is not an all inclusive list nor is it intended to be. It is however, a list that is intended to call out at least these thirty people who have determined that they will act outside the authority granted to them by the Constitution.
These are members of the Legislative or Executive branches of our government whose acts are against the trust reposed in them. They are, in the words of Locke, ”endevouring to invade the property of the people, and to make themselves, or any part of the community, masters, or arbitrary disposers of the lives, liberties, or fortunes of the people.”
These are people who have placed themselves By Locke’s definition in open rebellion to the Constitution and the people by their actions and schemes of usurption. In Chapter 19 para 226 of The Second Treatise of Government, Locke states, ” whoever they be, who by force break through, and by force justify their violation of them, are truly and properly rebels.”
To put this whole situation into an even stronger statement of fact, these are people who have placed themselves and the Government at war with the people of these United states. For you see that Locke and thus Jefferson and the Signers of the Declaration, in my opinion believed, “when they who are set up for the protection, and preservation of the people, their liberties and properties, shall by force invade, and endevour to take them away; and so they putting themselves into a state of war with those, who made them the protectors and guardians of their peace, are properly, and with the greatest aggravation, rebellantes rebels.”
In the rhetoric from Washington, this is contrary to the lefts attacks on the people who attend Tea Party rallies or openly voice opposition to their tyrannical schemes. They have attempted in fact to label the people as rebellantes.
We the people have the right to correct this situation and to reinstate the Constitution we have consented to live under. In fact it is our duty to do so. The quickest and most effective way to do this is to remove these thirty Tyrants and all like them from office at the opportunity. In doing so we will end the state of war they have created. However, to replace them with someone who does not understand the principles of the Constitution and their source, will only continue the state we are in. It is time to Come on Home America and rally behind our Constitutional form of government.

Removing all 435 members of Congress, all 100 Senators, the President, the Vice President, and all nine Supreme Court Justices is only a beginning. As you say we also need to replace them with men and women that will honor their oaths to support and uphold the constitution.
Simply voting them out of office won’t fix the problem though. If we simply vote against every incumbent politician we will still end up with politicians in office that don’t honor the Constitution except when it suits their own agendas. This is because both parties field candidates that simply are unacceptable.
If we really want to oust the bums, we’ve got to start far earlier than when they end up on the ballot in the general election. We’ve got to field decent candidates that will uphold the constitution at every level of government whether it be city, county, state, or federal – and we’ve got to do it in the primaries.
If we get the bad actors off of the ballot in the first place, then and only then will we have a chance to end the tyranny.
