Mike Allen of Politico is reporting how Obama is already on the defensive against McCain’s soon-to-be “assault” on him regarding his ties to former known terrorist William Ayers and Tony Resko, who is currently sitting in jail for bribery, money laundering and mail fraud.

Allen writes:
But Obama isn’t waiting to respond. His campaign is going up Monday on national cable stations with a scathing ad saying: “Three quarters of a million jobs lost this year. Our financial system in turmoil. And John McCain? Erratic in a crisis. Out of touch on the economy. No wonder his campaign wants to change the subject.Turn the page on the financial crisis by launching dishonorable, dishonest ‘assaults’ against Barack Obama. Struggling families can’t turn the page on this economy, and we can’t afford another president who is this out of touch.”
Then Obama says: “I’m Barack Obama and I approved this message.”
Here we go again. Obama is going to downplay his ties to these people, and the mainstream media is going to help him. The New York Slimes, in pretending to be a newspaper, is attempting to downplay Obama’s relationship with Ayers. But we can see through it. The New York Slimes is a propaganda rag for the far left wing of the democratic party. Nothing more, nothing less.
The Slimes claims that “Ayers was not involved in the selection of Obama as chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, or CAC (a so called “school reform organization”), which was founded by Ayers.” The Slimes does not mention that Ayers founded the CAC. They would have to hide it, otherwise, it would appear strange that he was not involved in appointing Obama as the CAC’s first Chairman.
Apparently, Steve Diamond, who was interviewed by the Slimes, is reporting on his blog how the Slimes has deliberately and knowingly falsified and misrepresented Obama’s relationship to Ayers:
Once again, the New York Times misses the story, parroting the false claims of the Obama Campaign about the relationship between Bill Ayers and Barack Obama. Some months ago the Times reported without comment the Campaign’s lie that the first time Obama met Ayers was in late 1995 at a “meet and greet” held at Ayers’ home for Obama when Obama launched his campaign for the state senate.
Read the rest here.
So tomorrow morning, over coffee and donuts, Americans will read, ho hum, about another one of McCain’s desperate attempts to win the presidency by soiling the good name of their messiah and leader, Obama. Very few will spend the time required to go and do a little research on this. They will just take their sugary donuts and run.
