Most of us realize that the United States Senate, like many elective offices, is merely a sinicure, a stepping stone to bigger and better things. Driving to an appointment this morning, it dawned on me that the only reason most of these people are “qualified” to become president is because they’ve spent most of their time running for the office. Obama is exhibit A: he’s been writing books and running for President for at least 4 years. Which means, by extension, that he has not been doing the job for which he was ostensibly elected: US Senator. Therefore, Mark Goldblatt’s piece in National Review Online is particularly heartening. Governor Palin has spent her time in office doing the job for which she has been elected, be it mayor of now Governor. She should be forthright about this fact. Thanks for writing this Mr. Goldblatt. Governor Palin, please take note.
